Sorry this sign of life is so late, I napped for way longer than I expected to.

Her walls have definitely come back up since coming out of the dream, leaving her feeling conflicted when she sees his text, and then she throws herself into her research for a while, as she has been wont to do during the time he's spent asleep whenever she starts feeling things she's not comfortable feeling.

Thankfully, the wonders of texting mean that none of that has to come across if she doesn't want it to. At least there's a few things the people of this "modern" world have gotten right.]

i would think you would have little choice in the matter regarding the length of time you spent asleep. that was what your body needed, so it took it.

well, last i checked it seemed many businesses on the near shore were hiring. for the winter holidays, i believe. so that need not be a problem for long if you do not wish it to be.

[Surprising no one, Zelda has not attempted to find employment for herself at any point in time. Relying on offerings for money can be a problem sometimes, but can you really imagine her waiting tables? No way.]

as for myself, i have been keeping busy attempting to research the type of magic used by those responsible for the forest kidnappings. though it is taking longer than i would like, with the state of heaven's library being what it is. not to mention a good deal of it seems to have been forbidden by the heaven's administration itself.

That's a lot of work, but I don't know anyone better suited to crack this case than you. The forest itself was a strange entity. I'm starting to remember bits and pieces if that could help you with your research. I'm not liking the part where they are forbidding access to knowledge, although I can guess where it comes from. We're just as much of unknown as their enemies.

And that's why I won't suggest sneaking into the library by night. [ He is totally suggesting that, isn't he? ]

at this point we need every lead we can get. if the temporary death of four gods caused the kinds of disasters we saw last month, then i am truly fearful for what the end goal of this group might unleash upon this world.

that being said, however, i am not so certain the act of forbidding this kind of sorcery is necessarily one against our number in particular. it is far too old for that. rather, i suspect any magic that might curse, bind, or otherwise negatively afflict another god is one that the heaven's administration considers heinous. "conflict in heaven brings conflict on earth," after all.

regardless, i seem to have garnered a slight degree of trust from lady amaterasu, and i am reluctant to do anything that might squander it just yet. [So no late-night library raids, doggo.] perhaps if i gain enough favor with her, she may be convinced to allow some of us to learn more of this magic, so we might be better able to counteract it should it threaten us again.

I trust your diplomacy skills. Lady Amaterasu is young though and guarded by her advisors- though there were instances where she "wandered off" away from their eyes. I think she might have a lot more of power then some give her- [ There are those who assume little head goddess be just a puppet in hands of someone adept in intrigue behind her shadow. ] - but be wary about those on her court. There was an attempt on her life in her own temple, maybe staged by outside forces- maybe not.

[ Ahh, yes, royal politics. But back to the topic of the forest and weird hooded people ]

If that's of any use, let me leave this here: I do wonder how they commanded the forest. Before it used to connected few temples, you could traverse between my temple and the Dagda's without ever leaving the forest. It's entirely gone now, and there is a clear path of land between our domains. Maybe it's just my gut feeling, but whatever they were trying to pull here, that forest was somehow important for it. I do wonder if it connected to more of the temples.

[ It's a scary thought that something in those temples is what enabled the whole forest fuckery, but it is a possibility and he won't shy away from it. ]

i am well aware that she is heavily guarded; unfortunately, i am unable to initiate contact or meet with her due to my standing as a "minor" goddess. but the first time we spoke was during one of those instances where she had escaped their attention, and so i have little doubt that she possesses a stronger will than many would give her credit for.

though now that i think about it, i do wonder about the circumstances that caused her to reincarnate.

[Something or someone got through all those defenses at least once before, but she's never heard it come up whenever people talk about the attack on her temple or strengthening the wards that guard it. Maybe she needs to spend even more time in the library than she originally thought.]

but that is definitely another angle of inquiry worth investigating. my initial thought is that the organization behind this required a pathway to the far shore that would be discreet and unobtrusive - if their god is not one that has been recognized by the heaven's administration as lady amaterasu suggested, then they would need another way to access the heavens outside of the use of temples or shrines. lady amaterasu also implied the incident at the moon viewing was also likely the work of this rogue god, so perhaps by interfering with whatever ritual they were attempting, we have also incidentally destroyed their pathway to the heavens.

but sadly this is all mere speculation. there is so much we do not know; it is impossible to make any kind of conclusion at this point in time.

Got it, so we have to elevate you to the higher status along the way. Get you more followers, it's been a while since I helped another god with prayers anyway.

[ IT'S NOT THAT SIMPLE, but that's something he can do. Investigations are not his forte- it's doubtful he could come up with a helpful idea on the brain side of things. But give him something to do, like rising her status, or whatever, and he'll do it happily ]

This also raises an interesting question - how gods are born. If the Heaven's merely "recognizes" them, but they can and do exist outside of it. How many other extremely minor gods are there, how much of them are disgruntled of being denied the official title. [ And home in this pretty place ]

Amaterasu assassination could be part of this plot- or it could have been an unrelated enemy, working separately. Perhaps someone who was around when that occurred could shed some light at the circumstances that surrounded it. I could discreetly ask around if you want.

that is certainly the most straightforward method of gaining an audience with her, but i fear the time it will take to do so may be time that we do not have.

[The cult will act again, it's just a question of when. The concern she does not mention, though, is the question of what will happen to her followers in this world when she returns to Hyrule? Is it right for her to seek their belief when she knows she will have to leave them eventually? She doesn't know.]

for now, asking her shinki and those she takes counsel from may be our best bet on getting some answers, though i doubt they will give up their secrets easily. you are more sociable than i am, so perhaps you will have better luck in that regard. i would suggest lady suijin as a good place to start; she seems calm and reasonable, as well as sympathetic to our plight as foreigners to this world. lords fuujin and raijin are said to be a bit more hot-headed, though i have not spoken with either of them personally.

i would appreciate any help you might offer. i realize this must be a lot to wake up to.

Got it. I'll be on a lookout for them on the next official gathering. But I'm also going to find out my chances of meeting Lady Suijin outside of those.

Is there any particular detail you'd like to know more of, or something I should avoid saying?

her temple is in the central district, though she seems to spend most of her time on the near shore. i have left a letter with the messenger at her gates and eventually gotten a response, however.

that said, i doubt she knows any more about this cult than we do, but finding out what exactly happened to lady amaterasu before our number began arriving in the heavens is definitely a point of interest. perhaps frame it in such a way that you wonder if this organization was responsible for her reincarnation a decade prior, especially given the resurgence of antagonism against her? that may yield better results than simply asking her directly.

also, try to be respectful. she seems kind enough, but i doubt she would appreciate flirtations and teasing from a foreign upstart.
