[America normally enjoys the meadow--flower crowns were a favorite pastime--but after June, everything in his mind feels weighed down and the brightness of the meadow only makes his lack of cheer more apparent.
He doesn't realize Zelda is there until she calls his name, and he freezes like he's guilty of something. Because he is, he attacked her, and facing her is frightening. But he can't run, so he looks up at her from where he was sitting.]
[The response is small and lacks his typical energy; he's waiting to see how she'll react. If she's angry at him, he probably deserves it, but waiting is still scary.]
